A Distribution Center Tailor-Made for ROSS Dress For Less

Designed With Your Expansion in Mind

In 2012, Ross Dress for Less asked a site selector to find a location for a new West Coast import deconsolidation and redistribution center for a number of their product lines. Ross sought to find a facility that would diversify its geographic risk outside of the Inland Empire. Wonderful Industrial Park was recommended, and Ross signed a land purchase agreement with an affiliate of Wonderful Real Estate. The land purchase was completed in 2014, and Ross began construction on a two-million-square-foot distribution center that was completed just one year later.

The facility is on 160 acres, providing additional land for future expansion and storage. The facility provides Ross with closer proximity to their West Coast locations, serving stores throughout the region as well as nationally. Since beginning operations in 2015, Ross has found success in Wonderful Industrial Park as a result of the area’s strong and dependable labor pool. With over 1,000 employees at this facility, Ross has consistently experienced annual turnover at less than 5%. Additionally, Ross has found the import process from the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach to Shafter to run efficiently, and the abundant land available at the site allows for ample trailer and employee parking.

In early 2018, Wonderful Real Estate Development completed the construction of 4100 Express, a one-million-square-foot speculative facility that features 40-foot clear heights, 300-foot truck courts, 700 trailer parking stalls, and 183 dock-high doors. Based on Ross’s success employing a reliable and loyal workforce in their original facility and dependable logistics reaching their West Coast and national stores, they began lease negotiations on this facility just after delivery and signed a long-term lease in July 2018. Ross will use the new space as an extension of its current West Coast import deconsolidation and redistribution operations that distribute regionally to both its Ross and dd’s DISCOUNTS stores.
